Chapter Directors: Michael Rucker and Joel Serface

The Rocky Mountains Chapter was founded in 2007 by Andrew Currie and David Readerman (see current leadership roster), and has grown to 45 members. Some of the chapter’s early successes were to help pass the nation’s first voter-approved Renewable Portfolio Standard, Amendment 37, in 2004, and then in 2009, HB 1126 to encourage solar thermal Installations. In February 2015, Susan Nedell became the Advocate for the Rocky Mountains chapter. She will help grow membership and continue to advocate for legislation to advance renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water policy that promotes conservation and reuse.

Past Successes:

During 2015 session in Colorado, the chapter helped defeat legislation that would have rolled back Colorado’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (SB15-44) and prevent Colorado from implementing its own strategy for EPA’s Clean Power Plan (SB15-258).  We supported efforts to promote renewable energy (HB15-1219: Enterprise Zone Investment Tax Credit For Renewable Energy) and energy efficiency (HB15-1236: Tax credit for improving energy efficiency in multi-family homes and commercial buildings, unfortunately failed to pass), as well as policies that promote conservation and reuse of our precious water resources.
